Our story

Sebumi is a creative ethnic music group from Bengkulu City, formed on May 8, 2023. Carrying an Ethno-Tronica genre, the group focuses on developing Malay music and the ethnic sounds of Sumatra, particularly Bengkulu.

The name "Sebumi" was chosen to reflect the effort to unite the diverse traits, characters, and behaviors of the Bengkulu people. Their music seamlessly blends traditional Malay instruments, Bengkulu ethnic elements, and modern instrumentation into a harmonious arrangement. As guardians of tradition, Sebumi continues to preserve and cultivate traditional percussion, folk vocals, folklore, traditional games, and traditional melodies from Malay and Sumatran ethnic heritage.
